At Hemptons we
use Hemp Seed Oil in a number of different products, especially in lotions
and creams. Natural Hemp has a dark olive green color so it imparts a greeny
tinge to butters and lotions whereas the Refined Hemp Oil has a light yellow
color and will not alter the colour of your butters and lotions with the
same intensity. Hemp Seed
Oil can be used in body care, soaps, facial creams, lotions and sunscreens
to impart moisturization, particularly for dry, damaged skin. Hemp Seed
Oil is also one of the "driest" natural oils available - meaning
it is quickly absorbed into the skin. It provides high fluidity and excellent lubricity
without being greasy.

Clinical studies have
shown PUFAs, specifically Omega-6 Linoleic Acid (LA) and Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA), when applied externally, can alleviate or even
remedy skin problems such as dryness, atopic eczema and psoriasis. These
tests have shown specifically that the effects of dry skin - scaling or
cracking that can be caused by Essential Fatty Acid (EFA) deficiency can
be reversed by skin care products containing Omega-6 fatty acids, thus
reducing the potential of Trans-epidermal Water Loss (TEWL). The proven
anti-inflammatory properties of LA and GLA can further aid in the healing
of minor skin irritation and disease.
Hemp Seed Oil's
lipid constituents allow it to permeate through intact skin and to thereby
nourish skin cells directly while also carrying therapeutic substances
with it into the skin. These properties have Internationally led to a
multitude of soaps, shampoos, skin lotions, lip balms, conditioners and
other skin-care products containing Hemp seed Oil.
Hemptons' Hemp Seed Oil is organically
grown and processed in Canada and South Africa and sold to individuals and
companies in quantities as small as 1 Litre and in bulk quantities of up
to a 1000 Litres.
Please
Note : Hemp Seed Oil requires cool, dark, oxygen-free storage
conditions. An unopened container can be stored in the deep freezer
indefinitely and in the refrigerator for one year; an opened container
will last for ten to twelve weeks in the refrigerator - and an unopened
container can last four to six weeks at room temperature. An opened
container should be used within one to two weeks. Vitamin E, A, or C act
as anti-oxidants and extend the shelf life of the oil when added. Hemp
seed oil's high EFA content make it vulnerable to spoilage.
